1# What is it?

Transcool is portable 12V or 24V evaporative air cooler. Pour 2 litres of water into it through the lid, connect the three-metre power cable to the cigarette lighter socket, after about 30 minutes select the fan speed and you can start cooling or set off!

2# How can the twelve-volt Transcool air cooler cool the car cabin or room?

Transcool can supply cool air to the user who is in the space in front of the unit. It is a “personal spot cooler” that will effectively blow cool air at you from a distance of 3 – 6+ m.

3# Does the twelve-volt portable Transcool air cooler cool a room or vehicle as well as a built-in air conditioner?

Simply put - NO!! * it cools the air, not the room!

It's hard to beat a refrigerated air conditioning system, but it's useless without 230V power.

A refrigerated air conditioning system has a number of complex and expensive components. These systems require a lot of permanently mounted parts – such as a compressor, condenser, or evaporator, as well as a refrigerant to cool the air. Air conditioning in a vehicle or home just requires a lot of power.

The performance of an evaporative cooling system varies depending on various conditions - such as ambient temperature and humidity; however, test results show that Transcool can deliver air at a temperature 45% lower than the ambient air temperature, using room temperature water!

Temperatures 50% lower than the ambient air temperature can be achieved by using ice (chilled) water or adding ice (not necessary, ordinary water is sufficient)

Test results at 40°C with 12% humidity show a ventilation temperature of 21°C, using room temperature water! A window must always be ajar to allow fresh air in and evaporated air out.

4# How long does the water last?

The length of time water is used for evaporative cooling varies depending on the fan speed and ambient air temperature.

Under most conditions, Transcool will last all night on the 'low' fan speed with 2 litres of water – that's an adequate amount of cool air for when you're sleeping.

The great news is that even if the Transcool is running without water, it will not be damaged!

In areas with high humidity, the Transcool can be used without water – you can even add ice!

The Transcool EC3 cooler comes with an external five-litre tank for extended use. The external tank has an ON/OFF tap and connects to the unit with a hose.

The Transcool EC3 cooler uses an internal float system that automatically maintains the correct water level when using the external tank.

The Transcool cooler has a transparent window through which the water level can be monitored.

5# How long does the battery last?

The Transcool cooler uses a 0.7 - 1.7 A battery (at high fan speed).

This equates to hours of comfortable cooling – even when your vehicle is stationary. In general, a 'low' fan speed will be adequate for your sleep.

For longer cooling times, it is recommended to use a deep cycle battery or battery pack.

The Transcool EC3 cooler is equipped with a battery protection system that turns off the cooler if the battery voltage drops below 11.2 V.

The results below show the higher fan performance when using a Transion 12V100Ah Deep Cycle LiFePo4 deep cycle battery.

A deep cycle battery can power for much longer and at a lower voltage than a standard 'starter' car battery, the main purpose of which is to deliver a large amount of current for a short time to start the vehicle. Ideal for use with the extended Transcool EC3F PLUS POWER model.

Most caravans, motorhomes, 4WDs and boats are equipped with a secondary deep cycle battery system, or larger 100 A batteries, which power appliances such as refrigerators, coolers, etc.

The following results were achieved using a standard 12V/60 Ah lead-acid car battery; the Transcool cooler was running until its voltage dropped to 12 V. This ensures reliable vehicle starting!

6# How noisy will the cooler be?

The noise level of the Transcool evaporative air cooler is even lower than that of a car's air conditioning/heating fan. It ranges from 46 decibels (at low fan speed) to 59 decibels (at maximum fan speed) at 1 m.

7# Can I get spare parts for my Transcool cooler?

Of course, we have all the spare parts you might need for your Transcool.

**Transcool provides a two-year warranty on the EC3F PLUS unit, valid from the date of purchase, if it does not function properly due to a defect caused by poor workmanship of the individual materials. Our obligation under this warranty is to repair or replace the defective parts free of charge if they have not been misused, mishandled or damaged by repairs performed by someone else. Subsequent product defects are not covered by the warranty.

The warranty does not cover the air filter and the external water tank.
